Y & S Train Derailment Incident Near East Friend Street Crossing Press Release | June 9, 2023
At 11:44 AM this morning the Columbiana Police Department received a call of a possible incident, a train had jumped the track near East Friend Street crossing.
Officers responded and found that two Youngstown & Southeastern Railroad (Y&S) cars had several wheels that jumped the track south of East Friend Street. The Y & S employees stopped the train and decoupled the last three cars at the Friend Street crossing.
We have been advised that the cars were empty. The crossing will be closed until Y&S can clear the cars and complete some minor repairs.
No injuries or damage have been reported.
